Hit the weights this summer. Ride faster this fall.
The BHS all-sports summer strength program runs M/T/Th, June 1–July 30. Our riders should be in the room.
The BHS All-Sports Strength & Conditioning Camp is open to every Panther student-athlete this summer — and our MTB riders should be there.
Why strength matters for cycling
It’s the most underused tool in junior cycling. The case:
- More power on climbs and sprints. Leg strength translates directly to watts. Stronger riders don’t just go harder — they hold pace longer.
- Injury prevention. Especially knees, hips, and lower back. Big summer miles without strength work is how overuse injuries start. Lifting now = healthier fall.
- Better bike handling. Core and upper-body strength means more control on technical descents and rough race courses.
- Confidence at the start line. Strong riders are calmer riders.
Two or three sessions a week through the summer is enough to show up at Race 1 in better shape than you started.
